mgmat RC not at all representive of actual gmat qns( forum admins pls advise)
thy opinions please?
The reason is that the questions ask for answers which are not directly stated in the passages(paraphrased or not). One thing I found in og questions was that no matter how hard the passage was, ultimately the answer could be found by referring to a couple of words in the passage. However, in the case of Manhattan GMAT reading comprehension, this is very hard. |

SS87,
I think what Manhattan GMAT means is that when something is not "directly stated in the passage" you do not want to have an answer choice be word for word. Just as you said.. a few words in the passage hold the key. But if you look at how the answer choices are given, ETS changes the wording to be close enough but not exact. If you mean inference questions.. then the answer will not be directly stated, but inferred based on the premise the author presents. Inferences are conclusions (more or less). Does that help? If not maybe I can explain further. |

hmm, actually the question was not an inference question.
And re-reading the passage(even after checking the corect answer), I couldnt come up with how the sentence in the passage translated to the answer choice...in og questions however, I find that no matter what the question type..there are always a few key words( rephrased or not). |

I agree with ss87. There are certain issues with Manhattan GMAT tests.
Though I definitely agree that the score given by Manhattan GMAT is pretty much your level but: 1. Their Quant is harder than real GMAT. 2. Their RCs are not reflective of actual GMAT. 3. I have heard that SC is easier in Manhattan GMAT than GMAT or may be equivalent to GMAT. |
