Were is required as we are using "among" here

In A , over and over and repeatedly is redundant

B/W D and E, i prefer E.

The subject is after the verb.

The sentence speaks of anger ,among the emotions (there are other emotions),so the usage of was is required to show the singular form.
repeatedly is used ,so no need of 'over and over again'

It is B. 'Was' should be used. Between B & D, B is the right answer

I came down to B and D. I think that D incorrectly use an idiom
'Prevent X from~ing;
