jmdgirish
Hi , Pls help on this one. I chose A largely because the they is ambiguous in all and in E , it ends in 'they are ' is 'they are the current one' a form of ellipsis. I have not seen anything liek this before. Q28 Traffic safety officials predict that drivers will be equally likely to exceed the proposed speed limit as the current one. A. equally likely to exceed the proposed speed limit as B. equally likely to exceed the proposed speed limit as they are C. equally likely that they will exceed the proposed speed limit as D. as likely that they will exceed the proposed speed limit as E. as likely to exceed the proposed speed limit as they are. Pls help. Am really confused here. Thanks. -Thanks and Regards, Girish Malik
avixorld
IMO D. OA plz

john333
A,B and C- awkward construction. D- as likely that - seems awkward again E- as they are the current one- doesnt make any sense... So, If I have to answer this question, I will choose lesser of the evil D
mitzi
I am leaning toward to B. What's wrong with B, if you eliminate it? Thanks.

mitzi
They is referring to Drivers or officials? I am leaning for a. good point. I think that they refers to officers. because subject/object nouns such as it, they, or them refer to the subject of the preceding clause or sentence. I overlooked at them. Thanks, rrakesh!:D
sparsh.21
IMO its A... no other options seems correct.....kindly post the OA

mission800
@ mitzi: another error i can point out in B is that it usese : "equally likely ... as " instead of GMAT's favorite " as likely as " bytheway OA is E, which is the correct form, "as they are the current one" is not wrong, its called ellipsis ! (shortening the sentence and leaving out the repetitive part) "as they are to exceed the current one" is "ellipsified" to --> "as they are the current one"
