    IMO C

which is required here to refer to Roman Colosseum

hence we are left A and C

    A doesn't have a and

    which we require
    ]
    hence C

    Hi EF

Why do we need 'and' here? Dont we use the same subject 'Roman Colosseum' in both the clauses? ( We use 'comma and' only when the subject of the clauses are different!) Am i missing something here?

    Can you please explain?

    (A) which was officially known as the Flavian
Amphitheater, began in A.D. 69, during the reign
    of Vespasian,
    no joiner for two clauses.
began is the first verb and was completed is the second verb. but no joiner. ---> out

    (B) officially known as the Flavian Amphitheater,
begun in A.D. 69, during the reign of Vespasian,
    and

begun should be use with any perfect verb(has/have/had + begun), the verb tense, begun and was completed, is not matched.

    (C) which was officially known as theFlavian
Amphitheater, began in A.D. 69,during thereign
    of Vespasian, and

Construction of the Roman Colosseum.. began... and was completed...
during the reign of Vespasian... during the reign of Titus

    (D) officially known as the Flavian Amphitheater and
begun in A.D. 69, during the reign of Vespasian it
After Vespasian, 'it' starts another clause without any joiners. --> out
begun is linked by 'and' so there is no main verb in the first sentence. ---> fragmented.

    (E) officially known as the Flavian Amphitheater,
which was begun in A.O. 69, during the reign of
    Vespasian, and

by using which was begun make the sentence fragmented.

    another vote for C.
