German Shepherds
Unlike German shepherds or Doberman pinchers, there is an unwilligness on the part of many people to believe that pit bulls might be fully domesticated.

In Option C (INCORRECT) Pit bull itself doesn't bring anything. We are talking abt, how people feel abt the dog. |

Like is used to compare nouns .
so A, C, E are out. we are not comparing the nouns, but the domestication . Out of B and D. B - there is no verb Parallelism ( willing---, are unwilling---) in D . are unwilling-------are willing---- so D. is the OA D ? |

C: Pit bulls bring out unwillingness to believe
A & B & D: people are unwilling to believe There is change in meaning in those 2 sentences. C is very very tempting as it corrects modifier error in A, however there are 2 errors: 1>they has 2 referent 2>bring out an unwillingness is wordy and changes the meaning and also illogically suggest that pit bull try something to create unwillingness(huh???) Applying POE: Between B & D, D is definitely wordy and not preferable over B. Hope that answer thy query! |

IMO D
A.Unlike German shepherds or Doberman pinchers, there is an unwilligness on the part of many people to believe that pit bulls might be fully domesticated. Invalid comparision B. Many people, willing to believe that German shepherds and Doberman pinchers might be fully domesticated, are unwilling to believe the same of pit bulls. Unnecessary fragmentation, also there is no verb in the main clause “willing to…” Also the contrast is not properly stated. We need some word such as while, although, even though, etc to state the contrast. C. Unlike German shepherds or Doberman pinchers, pit bulls bring out an unwilligness in many people to believe that they might be fully domesticated. To whom is “they” referring to people or pit bulls? Ambiguous antecedent. D. Many people are unwilling to believe that pit bulls might be fully domesticated even while they are willing to believe that German shepherds and Doberman pinchers might be. Correct. Contrast is stated using “while”. Also there is parallelism in the sentence structure both before and after “while”, the contrast word. E.Unlike German shepherds and Doberman pinchers, which many people are willing to believe can be fully domesticated, such belief does not extend to pit bulls Invalid comparision |
