(A) Although aspirin irritates the stomach, it … misplaced modifier (B) The irritation of the stomach caused by aspirin. Okay..hold for time being (C) The fact that aspirin causes irritation of the stomach…changes the meaning.. (D) Aspirin causes stomach irritation, although it…okay.. Pronun reference error (E) Aspirin irritates the stomach, which…misplaced modifier So IMO B is the answer. ![]() |

Agree with B.
'it' must logically refer to the irritation; hence we need to see the noun 'irritation'. A & E are out. C] Illogically suggests that the 'fact' can be avoided. D] Changes the meaning, suggesting that Aspirin will cause irritation despite the coating. |

yeap Fiver is correct. This is a case of wrong pronoun reference.
'It' should refer to irritation and not 'Aspirin'. So we can rule out A and D. Option E -> Relative pronoun E is ambiguous - it can refer to stomach or aspirin. Either ways it is wrong. So eliminated Option B. Clear and Concise

I did not choose B b/c passive voice is used there (The irritation of the stomach caused by aspirin...).... I guess this goes to show us that not all choices that use passive voices are incorrect. OA is B Thanks for your great explanations you guys!

the part caused by aspirin does not bring a passive construction into the sentence.... Passive voice construction is on the lines... be + Verb... was attended is a passive.. was caused by is a passive... but only "caused by" is not a passive... ![]()
