I choose B, but B is not the correct response. Could someone pls exaplain why C is the correct respone.

One doesn't share a heritage/background as someone else, One has the same background/heritage as someone else.

"C" is the only choice which uses "....have the same ethnic heritage as...."

It seems like since might be a better fit than because in the sentence..

but i have read that in the idiom "same X as Y"

X and Y shuld be the same thing..

but here in C "because many residents of the Southeast do not have the same ethnic heritage as Northeasterners" X=ethnic heritage and Y= Northeasterners are not same..thats why i rejected C and chose B..

plzz explain

when two entities share an attribute, it means both the entities have the same attribute. so, saying "share the same X" does not make sense. This mistake is seen in all the choices except C.

"same X as Y" is not the idiom being tested here
