I think "C" will be correct only if we add a "is" in front of "analogous to" as following: C) the behavior of warring ants IS analogous to that of warring humans Would you agree? Lee Shi |

If you add "is" then the correct senetence woule be :
Thoreau finds THAT the behavior of warring ants IS analogous to that of warring humans. Since we do not have "that", it should be Thoreau finds the behavior of warring ants analogous to that of warring humans. Thats what i feel. Thanks Arti Gupta |

Hi, guys! Sorry for my delays in responding; deadlines loomed, then my DSL went down! I'm at home now!
Anyway, find is a bit tricky because it has two different, but closely related meanings, each of which is used in a grammatically different way: find, meaning discover: find + that + SENTENCE e.g., I found that the GMAT was not as difficult as I had thought it would be. This pattern is further complicated because we sometimes omit the that in this sentence. However, the grammar and the meaning are the same since we have a sentence here. find, meaning something close to believe: find + OBJECT + COMPLEMENT (which describes the object) e.g., I found the test difficult. In this pattern, again, we sometimes write it this way: I found the test to be difficult. but again, the meaning is the same, even if we don't use these extra words. HTH!! |
