Hi Lee

Don't u feel C is simpler than D??? The sentence talks abt "teeth and jawbones"

C option begins with the same and tells the facts in a simple way.

Hi lee

Looking at the sentance, at first glance, we know that the correct option should start with "is that".

This leaves us with B and C. Now C is a passive voice and B is active voice and gramatically correct as well.

Thats why i feel that B is the best answer.

Rest! Erin can explain in a beautiful manner.

I think this thread will work best if we can only focus on the questions in the original post. Could you post new questions under a new thread? It'll be a lot easier for us all!!

Thanks, LadyD.

Hi, guys! :)

The key here is to look at the location of in Tanzania.

Which sounds better to you?

[*]The Great Wall in China is the only manmade structure visible from space.

or

[*]In China, the Great Wall is the only manmade structure visible from space.

Now look at these:

[*]The travelers in China found they were treated with both great courtesy and great curiosity.

or

[*]In China, the travelers found they were treated with both great courtesy and great curiosity.

Here's what I think:

[*]:) The Great Wall in China is the only manmade structure visible from space. :)

is preferable to

[*] In China, the Great Wall is the only manmade structure visible from space.

because the latter makes it sound like the Great Wall has different characteristics in different places. In other words, when we put In China at the beginning of the sentence, especially with a comma, it modifies the whole sentence, not just the next noun.

Now let's look at the next set of "minimal pairs" to see when we should put in China at the beginning:

[*]:sleepy: The travelers in China found they were treated with both great courtesy and great curiosity. :sleepy:

is not a bad construction, but we don't know whether these are travelers are traveling only in China or in other countries as well; they could be doing either.

[*]:) In China, the travelers found they were treated with both great courtesy and great curiosity. :)

This construction makes it clear that the travelers are visiting at least one country other than China.

Whew! Make sense? Hope so!!

Hey there, Lee Shi. Sorry I missed this one.

First, can you post new questions under a separate thread? I know you know why; I've seen you make the same request to others!!

Anyway, the answer must be D, even though it's a bit awkward. If we choose E, this part is ambiguous:

in her home that featured , as it seems that the homes are featuring something, not the festivals.

Make sense? Let me know if it doesn't!!
