    'them' doesn't refer to languages. D and E are clearly out. And among A B C, rule out B for 'them' and between A and B, A id best.

    IMO A
    D and E are out for using "or"
    is tried counting correct ??
    try is typically followed by infinitive "tried to count" is better than tried counting
    I eliminated B and C for that reason. Does nebody support or oppose this point of view ?
