    Am I right folks?

I think the sentence cannot start with 'AS'. When a sentence starts with 'AS' something is expected to happen
As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb....something happens...but nothing of that sort is entioned int he sentence, so all choices with 'AS' in the begining can be neglected. That leaves us with 'B' and 'D".
    'B' is weird.
    Answer is 'D'.
Please let me know if there is a flaw in my reasoning.

1.As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb with a rudimentary sense of vision, it would be rated about 20/500, or legally blind if it were an adult with such vision.
    (A) As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb with a rudimentary sense of vision, it would be rated about 20/500, or legally blind if it were an adult with such vision.
    Pronoun reference
    (B) A baby emerges from the darkness of the womb with a rudimentary sense of vision that would be rated about 20/500, or legally blind as an adult.
    Comparing (apples & oranges)
    (C) As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb, its rudimentary sense of vision would be rated about 20/500; qualifying it to be legally blind if an adult.
pronoun reference (womb or baby ?)
    (D) A baby emerges from the darkness of the womb with a rudimentary sense of vision that would be rated about 20/500; an adult with such vision would be deemed legally blind.
    (E) As a baby emerges from the darkness of the womb, its rudimentary sense of vision, which would be deemed legally blind for an adult, would be rated about 20/500.
pronoun reference (womb or baby ?)

I was between B and D .....but D looks better with all the logic !

B might mean that once the baby grows up, it might be deemed legally blind.
    D makes more sense

C is wrong because the use of the phrase as a "baby emerges ..... its rudimentary sense of vision would be rated..... " means the two events happen at the same time. It is impossible to rate the sense of vision for the baby as the baby emerges.

w.r.t. C, don't u see the problem with the use of "its"? what is "its" referring to? - womb OR the baby?
    D) A baby emerges from the darkness of the womb with a rudimentary sense of vision that would be rated about 20/500; an adult with such vision would be deemed legally blind.

    Experts,
In D, "with" seems to modify womb? Isnt that a problem? Please enlighten!
