E) to heal physical or mental ills or thanking her for such help. Please explain the difference in A and E. Thanks Preeti Hi Preeti! I know you won't like this answer... but it's simply unidiomatic to say "aid to heal." It's funny you should ask this question just now; I sent out part of a list in my last GMAT newsletters. This list including all the A's. You can see the list here: http://www.TestMagic.com/newsletters/gmat/2002_06.htm#05 Be sure to sign up for the newsletter if you want to get the B's in your email!! pregupta
sorry about that. I'll check out the list. Do I have to sign up separately for the newsletters? My name is already there in the mailing list. Thanks.
Erin
If you're signed up, you should receive the newsletter! I try to send one out every month, but I simply did not have time in June. The last newsletter took me six hours to prepare, and it still had some minor typos. Arrgghh!! Problem is, July is even busier than June... but I'll try my best! (I have to pay the service whether I send it or not!!! Arrgghh again!!) Erin

dilipcrangan
aid in is the right idiom. So A is clean and parallel
rits700
firstly, "aid in" is the correct idiom. secondly, A is paralel Among the objects found in excavated temple were small terra-cotta effigies left by supplicants who were either asking (the goddess Bona Dea's aid in healing physical and mental ills) or thanking (her for such help). Philospher57
can you explain please this one?? Among the objects found in excavated temple were small terra-cotta effigies left by supplicants who were either asking the goddess Bona Dea's aid in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help. A) in healing physical and mental ills or thanking her for such help. B) in healing physical and mental ills and to thank her for helping. C) in healing physical and mental ills and thanking her for helping. D) to heal physical and mental ills or to thank her for such help. E) to heal physical or mental ills or thanking her for such help E is incorrect because it gives the sense that -'Bona Dea's aid' was being asked to heal the ills.Hope that helps. geekybiz1
Good point Philosopher, "aid to heal" changes the meaning (apart from being unidiomatic).
