LegoLife
My answer is B. Both by X and by Y, especially those situated - we can rule out those options that contain if situated.
mevz
Will vote for B as well. The sentence also requires present perfect tense has.
vrider
Current economic recovery - indicates action continuing into present -> has significantly increased (present perfect). those - correct pronoun usage both X & Y is right idiom. as well as is redundant. LegoLife
surya, The problem with choice D is that : It's ventures, especially those situated in the Tech Area. capital expenditures, especially if situated in the Tech Area. - We know that expenditures are not situated in the Tech Area.Hence, the referred noun is wrong. quiver
B: The current economic recovery has significantly increased capital expenditures both by established coporations as well as start-up ventures, especially "if" situated in the technology sector. A... B. has significantly increased capital expenditures both by established corporations and by start-up ventures, especially those situated In the first sentence it seems as if the reason for the increased expenditure is the fact that the industry is situated in the tech sector. Option "B" corrects that mistake by replacing if with those.
saira
The current economic recovery - we need present perfect tense and not the past tense . secondly both X and Y. both ...and .... is the correct idiomatic construction . hence "B" is correct
kikipooh
B should be the answer. D is wrong for two reasons. First, I think we should use "has increased" instead of "increased" because they are talking about "the current economic recovery." (on-going) Second, "especially if situated" sounds awkward, "those" sounds much better. Experts, please feel free to correct me if you don't agree.
