IMO c...

B and E are impossible.
"of green fields that ..." fields is plural, surrounds is incorrect. It has to be surround.

We are left with A C and D.
"Joaquin Valley town..." is singular so should be bustles and not Bustle. So D is voted out.

A is visibly incorrect so correct answer is C, even if we do not consider who and whom issue. Also the subject in the sentence are the workers who and not whom "are in the area just for the season".

OA?

OA is A, which is acceptible.
It has "Surround" and not "surrounds".
I can accept "them" instead of "who" , but again whom is totally incorrect.

Wakie Wakie...!!!

I will go with B.

2 reasons .

1) Whom - as this pronoun is used as Object
2) Them and which are not better suited for people

Hey Bob,

You think in such situations on teh GMAT, we can exercise discretion as to choosing the subject. As the whole perspective may change then.

As you said, In this case both patch work and green fields qualify as subjects.

Thanks and regards,
Girish Malik.

OA to this question is B.
I have got this question in GMAT Prep.
There is no doubt on 800Bob's explanation.
