    Brutal SC 21

Among lower- paid workers, union members are less likely than non union members to be enrolled in lower- end insurance plans imposing stricter limits on medical services and requiring doctors to see more patients, and spend less time with each.

a). imposing stricter limits on medical services and requiring doctors to see more patients, and spend
b). imposing stricter limits on medical services , requiring doctors to see more patients, and spending
c). that impose stricter limits on medical services, require doctors to see more patients, and spend
d). that impose stricter limits on medical services and require doctors to see more patients, and spending
e). that impose stricter limits on medical services, requiring doctors to see more patients and spending

    Official Answer is
    SPOILER: D

I opted for C but in D spendind is not parallel to see. Why is D right.

If option D looked something like
d). that impose stricter limits on medical services and require doctors to see more patients, spending
    Then D is fine...
I feel you added an extra and ...please confirm this..
Else if this is fine then I would go with E.

    C) is possible incorrect because it changes the meaning as if plan requires doctors to spend less time with doctors. Grammatically i could not find any flaws(though my grammar is not great..)

D without and would probably be correct

E is incorrect- I think correct version would be requiring docs to (see more patients and spend less ...)

Any experts..Kill Gmat.. or anyone else

    ranjeet_1975,

I think you wrote the answer choice for D wrong. I don't believe there should be an "and" before spending in choice D.

The use of "spending" in choice D modifies what the doctors are doing with each patient. Keeping "and" in this sentence incorrectly equates the adverbial modifying phrase with the rest of the verbs in the sentence, which is wrong.

The correct answer should be D.

    IMO D.
    It is parallel structure error.
plans that impose....and require the doctors to see...and spending...

ranjeet_1975, look for explanation in a similar question in

http://www.urch.com/forums/gmat-sent...had-share.html (Great explanation by Erin -- had to share)

Spending is correct as it is part of the participle phrase.

Spending is correct as it is part of the participle phrase.
I disagree with Official Answer. D is wrong all the way.

And the question discussed in the link in quote is totally different from this one . I agree with sourav106, D would be acceptable if there were no "and " in place. At that time, spending would modify the phrase " require doctors to see more patients".

    What's wrong with E?
'...lower-end plans that impose limits on services, requiring.....and spending....'
'requiring' and 'spending' are both present participles and modify 'lower plans' I'm i overlooking some aspect?
