    SC#When Veronica had purchased...

When Veronica had purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom, she had some concern that the style of the mirror would not suit that of her other furniture, a concern that dissipated once she hung the mirror.

A)When Veronica had purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom, she had
B)When Veronica purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom, she had
C)When Veronica has purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom, she will have
D)With the Victorian mirror for her bedroom having been purchased, Veronica has
E)Veronica had purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom when she came to have

Hi guys, am confused between A and B.
I support A because "hung" is used in the sentence.
Had it been hanged, I would have supported B

    Please help.

    IMO B.

A uses past perfect which should always be avoided and actually doesnt make in this case.

I am assuming you were worried about the tense of hung.
hanged : to put to death by suspending by the neck from a gallows, gibbet, yardarm, or the like.

Veronica purchase and her concern both appears to happen at the same time in past, there fore no need for past perfect. I will go wit B

There are two parts to this
When Veronica had purchased the Victorian mirror for her bedroom --->
    she had some concern

The two events occured simultaneously in the past
    She purchased the mirror
    She had the concerns..

Past Perfect is used when there are two events...Here only past tense suffices..Past perfect is incorrect

Moreover past perfect had purchased would say that she had purchased the mirror before she had the concerns,....

Yeah guys Official Answer is B.
My justifications for going with A were :

1)She purchased the things and thereafter started getting pans of guilt and concerns, so past perfect is not so bad.

2)Another reason is that hung which is used in the latter part of the sentence also denotes past perfect.Hence I chose A.

Another point, the forms of verb for hanging an object are:
    hang-hanged-hung

And for hanging a person are :
    hang-hanged-hanged

The author should have used hanged, as usage of hung is not required.
    Yucky question!...

tathagat_mbakid, I dont think it is supposed to be hanged ... hung is the right usage.

regular past tense of hang is hung. However, there is one difference when it comes to hanging someone by the neck. In this case the past tense is hanged which means killed by hanging.

    Thanks Bholebaba..
Actually Manhattan SC guide says that for an object the verb hang goes : hang-hanged-hung..
    Which is incorrect!!

    It is actually hang-hung-hung
