Test Taker
Growing is wrong. The modifier should clearly modify killer whale. So B and C are out. Also grow as big as 30 feet long is wrong. So D out. 'it' in E is unncessary. So A.

dominique11
The OA is E, why not D?
queen2
in D the subject "it' is missing
Fiver
Although i opted D at first, a second look strengthens the position of E as a better option. D can be ruled out because 'as big as' must be used to compare things that can be logically compared, while here we cannot compare 'a killer whale' to '30 feet long'. It needed to have been something like 'a 30 feet long anaconda' or something like that. E is correct and the 'it', since it is preceded by the conjunction 'and', refers to the subject of the relative clause: 'killer whale'. serGINho
I think it is C - because it follows the parallelism. Bear Bull, what do you think?
lost_into_wild
option C spoils meaning of sentence. which can grow and growing have entirely diff. meaning.

mitzi
I think it is C - because it follows the parallelism. Bear Bull, what do you think? serGINho, take a look at the following example. a. the killer whale growing up... b. the killer whale, growing up.... As bear&bull pointed out, these two 'growing' modify a different components of the given sentence. like a) growing up... modifies 'the killer whale' b) 'growing up' modifies a noun that can be the subject or object in the given sentence. sometime it modifies a whole preceding sentence as a summative modifier. Since we are talking about the killer whale, b and c can be ruled out first. Hope to add some value.

Don't you think that a comma is necessary before 'it'? because 'it' introduces a clause. like .... , and it is file:///C:/Users/ADRIAN%7E1/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-9.jpg
