bholebaba
What do you mean by it uses of In my opinion E is correct because it uses the idiom believe to be correctly. Could you explain what you meant when you said "of"
Queen09
Bholebaba I can explain what Retake meant. In this sentence we need an ending "of ". distant supernova explosion is a type previously unknown ... OR distant supernova explosion is of a type previously unknown ... makes sense? bholebaba
Ya makes sense ... but don't you think its because it is uses the correct idiom like believed to be of rathar than believed is of
Queen09
Ya makes sense ... but don't you think its because it is uses the correct idiom like believed to be of rathar than believed is of Agree. But in any case we needed "of". didn't we? So..in this Q we can slice the options on basis of "of". Came down to C and E. E is then obviously better. finsisher
1. Astronomers at the Palomar Observatory have discovered a distant supernova explosion, one that they believe is a type previously unknown to science. (A) that they believe is (B) that they believe it to be © they believe that it is of (D) they believe that is (E) they believe to be of E is correct because of correct construction one they believe to be of Type. When we mean to specify one thing out of n similar thing we use 'of" construction. Eg: "of all his friends Rocky is the best"

ConVerbal
IMO E. One already provides antecedent pronoun and the use of that becomes redundant in this case. Hence, E.

mitzi
definitely E. It is a typical example of resumptive modifier. 'that' is redundant, one refers to explosion.
