Question Sc 1000 Q181

(A) as anyone has ever come
(B) as anyone ever had been
(C) as anyone ever had done
(D) that anyone ever did
(E) that anyone ever came

Will go with B
"As anyone ever had been", in this "had" goes in line with the past happening, and "been" is the one that is closer to the sentence "came as close to being a carbon copy of the jazz virtuoso". Hence B

OA Please....

my pick is (B)

this is a comparison and the non-underlined part contains "as" so the underlined part should contain "as".

we can safely omit (D) & (E)

now try to understand the intention of the statement, it wants to compare that to all those who has been close to that performance. it is not comparing Bob to someone who may have achieved that level after Bob( therefor we can't use option A)

now "had been " seems more idiomatic than "had done"

so i think the OA should be B.

Plz provide the correct answer.

We need the option to start with "as" to complement the idiom "as close..... as". And to complement "to being..." I think we need "come" to complement "came". Hence I choose A.
