Need a 20 day plan for improving Verbal Score

I recently sat the GMAT and received a very poor score for the verbal section (27). I was very disapointed in my results. From the forum I have seen that OG11 is a good review but what other materials have helped those who have been successful? I have taken the Kaplan course and it helped my math score to 43 to 49 but not verbal. Need verbal to be above 41.

phr0pil0t, your story reminds me of my own. I gave the GMAT the first time on March 18th. with Q47 and V26. I only did OG11 in about 15 days, hence i could not concentrate on grasping the concepts. This lead to me wasting a lot of time on questions and panicking in the verbal section as I did not have strong fundamentals. I think the best way to build fundamentals is to participate in the forums and make sure you understand why each option is wrong. This will help with speed and accuracy during your exam. Also, 1000SC's and LSAT CRs are a good source I think. Hope this helps. ALso, quality is more important than quantity. It is not important to complete the 1000SC's. It is better if you understand whatever questions you do.

For things like RC and CR, practice diagramming. For SC, learn to split the answer choices and decide which one is correct in order to improve your odds when you guess. Also the MGMAT SC book is good for explaining grammatical rules.
