Help required to improve time management in Verbal

Hi all,
I have a major issue with my timing on the Verbal section.I have started with the GMAT sets.I have solved 2 sets out of the 30 sets.I am able to solve only 31 questions in 75 mins.I have to just click and move on for the last 10 questions.I hang on to some questions in between for a long time.I tried setting up a scheme wherein I should arrive at the 5th question at the 63rd minute,17th question at the 41st minute,29th question at the 20th minute.I am able to arrive at the 5th question in the 63rd minute but after that my timing goes mayhem.Did any of you face similar issues.Any advice would be of great help to me.My exam is approaching soon.Pls advice me.Is it possible to improve my timing at this stage of preparation.

I think one should aim at completing the verbal set in at least 72 min .. 2-3 min for real exam pressure etc ... the following things could be helpful :
1. SC : try to finish sc in less than 1 min ...some difficult ones will require more time and give them 14 SC --18 min should be the target .. practice with right mindset will make this happen

2. CR : prephase the answer afer reading the argument .. then look for answer .. even if you can do for 5 ques , it will save lot of time .. 13 CR- 24

3. RC: give them enough time ..read carefully ..move with author ..14 RC-30 min ............3 min for buffer ..
4. Be supremely confident while taking the exam .. this is not the time for analysis .. read questions and mark with confidence .. don't hang on one question..
5. Finally practice ..practice and practice with a strategy that suits you ..

When you GMAT sets, what do they refer to? Is there a website where we can get these sets for practise?

I don't think all the verbal sets in gmatsets collection truly represent the pattern of actual GMAT. For example, the set-23 of verbal contains 18 CRs, 14 RCs and only 9 SCs. Naturally it will take more than 75 mins to solve such a set because SCs, which require least time to get solved, were least in number. Moreover, number of CRs were twice the number of SCs. In actualy GMAT, I think the number of each of the three components of verbal section would be almost equal.

The SETS are also very difficult, I want to know whether the real GMAT is asking those tough questions

1. SC : try to finish sc in less than 1 min ...some difficult ones will require more time and give them 14 SC --18 min should be the target .. practice with right mindset will make this happen ........well the strategy i hav taken is ...........eliminate the big one......by POE......almost always big one ......test parallelism.......so use ........elimination 1 by 1.............first Parallelism....then pronoun......then S-v agreement then ....Tenses and idiom if any...........

i started moving by this ........and amzingly my speed improved.........

2. CR : prephase the answer afer reading the argument .. then look for answer .. even if you can do for 5 ques , it will save lot of time .. 13 CR- 24

........perhaps i get some questions simmilar to OG so .........got the answer choice right after reading the question stem........
........will it work in GMAT . ... on D - Day

3. RC: give them enough time ..read carefully ..move with author ..14 RC-30 min ............3 min for buffer ..

This is the one section, which i really find hard to collect it all in time........i m always short of time........

want some more advise on it.......

4. Be supremely confident while taking the exam .. this is not the time for analysis .. read questions and mark with confidence .. don't hang on one question..
5. Finally practice ..practice and practice with a strategy that suits you ..
.................stilll i m not improving on my RC scores...........i hav done enough of practive but still get atleast 6-10 wrong in RC...........................really clueless

RC is my weak area too. I am concentrating more on SC & CR to spend less time on these during the real exam to create cushion time for RC. Guess there is no other way but to keep on practicing.
