you need to use which to modify killer whale. Participle (-ing) would modify the main subject.

",which...." would modify Killer Whale while growing would modify the main subject as pointed out by bholebaba

But I think the answer should be D. In A the meaning of "which can grow to be 30 feet long" is not clear. If we use "which can grow as big as 30 feet long" the meaning is more clear. Is anyone can suggest why D is wrong.

As big as ... should have a logical comparison with another "similar" object, not just a quantity.
