Hi. I'm new to this forum. I want to find out some good ways to practice for the GMAT exams. I see a lot of you post your scores with some version numbers. what are those?

Hi,
I have been out of school for awhile, and I'm very rusty. I'm aiming to take the exam six months from today. By the way, how many times you can take the GMAT? Is it recommended to attend to a class as well as study on your own? After reading some posts on this forum, I ordered myself the 2009 Kaplan premium guide. I also got the manhattangmat's verbal study guide from someone. I guess that would be a good start?
Also, I'm planning to hire an inexpensive GMAT tutor. I feel like an one-on-one tutoring will benefit.
Hey Doctortt,
I am also new to this forum ; however I happen to know the answeres to your queries.
1.how many times you can take the GMAT?
There is no such limit.
2.Is it recommended to attend to a class as well as study on your own?
I wrote GMAT without any external help or any book and scored 610. Now I am preparing to write it agin in the month of March 09. I dont really think tutions may help me. Its personal choice , if you think you are not good at it , you may look out for some help.
Ithink there are better books available than the ones you mentioned.
I have started with OG11 , OG10. You may check other threads. will help.
Thanks

Thanks. What does OG stand for anyway?
OG stands for Official guide and is published by GMAC , the governing authority.
It is a bit simpler than actual GMAT but gives a clear idea of gMAT question types.
Thanks

OG stands for Official Guide
GMAT stands for (Graduate Management Admission Test).
It covers lots of sample questions that will help you for practicing.
There is no substitute for official GMAT questions. All TestMagic students who have scored over 700 on their GMAT (currently averaging approximately 90% of all on-site students) have gone through the Official Guide (affectionately known as the "OG") two, three, four, even five times. This book is the bible of GMAT preparation
