Taking GMAT again. Need help regarding advanced math

Hey people. I am new on here and thought to give this a try. Anyhow, I took the gmat 5 years ago, and scored a 700. I did this by doing the OG10 book in its entirety. I have always thought math to be my strength, and graduated in engineering from a top univ. As a result, I found all the OG10 math problems to be quite easy, and aced them. Despite this, I remember doing not so well on the actual gmat. Surprisingly, I did well on the verbal, but mediocore on math (74% range). Strangely, I remember coming out of the exam thinking the math questions were kinda easy. It's obvious that I underestimated them, and i am not sure whether I made careless cocky mistakes or simply got owned by advanced tricky math questions.

In any case, i have been laid off and am rethinking going in to bschool (what else to do? there's no jobs!) and am curious to know if there are any good advanced math questions that i can practice for the gmat?

There is a new Official Guide coming out soon and it may have some tough mathematics questions.

In addition, there have been a few books published lately with tougher questions: Kaplan 800 (more like Kaplan 650) and Project GMAT (not familiar with details).

Also, if you Google "GMAT Practice Questions" and go through the results, there are some websites with some rather difficult problems.

Well i've taken some math tests online and some of them really had me bawling.
I guess everyone have thier standards. I usually manage about 45-48 in quant but if your talking more advanced than that, then i cant help.

have a look at some practice tests at Welcome to GMATLive - GMAT Prep, GMAT Tutorials, GMAT Coaching, GMAT High Score, GMAT, GMAT Prep Courses | ManhattanGMAT specially the quant section is good.

or you could google "tough gmat quant questions"

    all the best!

    Hi,

I am writing here because I stay interested in recent GMAT activity. I did mine some years ago and currently attend a European B-School.

I can recommend the books of Manhattan GMAT, esspecially for maths exercise. They are really hard and therefore good to prepare for a high score. Furthermore I did a course in Bavaria, Germany that was really inexpensive and helpful.

    Check out, www.gmat-workshop.de

It absolutely good value for the money.

    All the best to you,

    gmat2204.

Take a look at the math tests at gmatclub.com. These tests are incredibly difficult, as they contain all 700+ level questions. If you can go through a few of these and learn from your mistakes, you will definitely improve.
