Cheating??
How is that possible?? I gave my GMAT in delhi and the security arrangements were so tough. Even, while typing for the AWA when my keyboard was making loud noises, the invigilator came up to me and asked me to reduce the noise. As far as the debate goes whether GMAT is getting Tougher in India, I don't really know. But My personal Opinion is YES it Is getting TOUGHER My friend who is doing an internship gave GMAT in Paris, and he scored Q50(730 total), he told me that he saw some questions almost analogous to OG. However, a few days later, when I gave my GMAT in Delhi(India) I found Question way to tough. I am an Engineer and my favorite subject is maths. In none of the GMAT Prep test I scored below Q51. and the questions I faced in real GMAT was way too tough, that led me wonder how my Indian friends who don't have firm gasp of Quant, how will they manage to score decently. Now coming to the Verbal Section : critical reasoning=> I did a few sets of critical reasoning from LSAT sets, but I found them to be tough and above the level of GMAT, so I dropped the Idea of having. That was one of my biggest mistake. I found critical reasoning's almost of the same level like that of LSAT's. I was shocked. reading comprehension: Yet another LSAT type Big-Big passage, the passage was the last nail in my coffin. I have a very pathetic experince. I am going to give GMAT again, but now I have prepared myself for tough questions. Looking forward to a bright future ahead |

well..we dont need to debate whether it is tough over here... its a fact... the important thing is...for those such as u n me...who have given one attempt...n havent got a good score....i think its time to get bak to tough questions..long paragraphs..LSAT CRS...as we can not take a risk of jst go n give d exam..but we need to b prepared for tougher qs... oderwise lets go to some place in us give it there n come bak.. i have a visa too ![]() One OG12 update: We have OG12 released by GMAC n i solved all new PS problems... i think there are a total of 50 new PS problems...d time i solved..i knew this is not what im gonna get...i think i got 4-5 problems wrong...but those giving cat would surely get those problems rite... So we have OG12, wid new PS questions.....but those also do not represent the actual difficulty level...

This thread is embarassingly silly. It's absent of one single fact supporting the thesis. Should I conclude that desis are challenged with critical reasoning because they fall prey to argument by anecdote? Is this why every Indian 700s have Q49/50 and some shockingly poor V score?
(No. And also No. But maybe you get my point?) A friend worked for Pearson centers in IT support. I asked them about the logistics once. The questions are sourced and distributed globally. The software is controlled and the same on any given client machine accessing a live gmat instance. And we know that the scaling/curve is also live and global. So, pray tell, how is the test made harder specifically in India? Could GMAC do this openly? Doubtful since it's discriminatory. Could they do it secretly? Possibly--what would they stand to lose though? A lot--a conspiracy to geographically or ethnically skew test results would undermine the objective and impartial nature of a test administration body. If the secret slipped, GMAC would be out of business. They would be risking their very business to do this. So why would they take this risk? Because too many desis are getting 700+? Who cares? B-schools already manage to filter candidate pools and differentiate between candidates with many points of equivalance. It's why we talk about there being an Indian male IT category for adcom. There's no rational reason GMAC would do this. There are, however, a number of reasons why someone would want this argument to be true, but they're all rooted in vanity and self-justification. Anyway, I think it's great that so many of my Indian friends crack the GMAT with ease. It's a great equalizer in that regard. A guy can go to the best private schools in the US and be raised with all the right advantages, and he still can't beat the score of a kid raised in the poverty of Bombay. I scored 750 (Q48, V47) on my second take. First time was 690. The first time, when I received the lower score, the test felt a lot easier--Official Guide like if you will. The second time--higher score--it felt a fair bit harder. OG+. The answer's easy as others have pointed out--it's a fricking adaptive test. The better you do, the harder it gets. There's also a degree of randomness, partly do to question bank fluctuations and test questions. So how the test felt relative to the OG is going to vary, and it has nothing to do with lame conspiracy theories. Frankly, I'm from the States and this it the kind of lame, self-justifying conspiracy theory our ignorant masses would come up with! ![]() |
