Are we allowed to present the best scores out of the two? Will the univ know if we retake the test?

Yes, they'll know because all of your scores within 5 years will be sent together. Some schools only consider the highest, while some schools will consider the average. You should check with the school that you plan to apply to.

actually i heard on the official GMAT site (mba.com) that schools only get your last three scores (and that's also all you ever see when your official score are mailed to you). can anyone confirm this is true?

yes fountain head what u heard is right ...schools and test takers indeed get only the most recent 3 scores (in case u have taken the test more than 3 times up to a max of 5 times a yr)
