Very Basic Question about GMAT preparation

Hello everyone,

I am lucky I found this site at the beginning of my GMAT preparation. I would like to know how many months of preparation will be needed before I can take a GMAT test aiming for 680+ ? I am a hardworker and can devote about 30 hrs of preparation every week. Please let me know so that I can book a date accordingly. I think I will prepare most effectively when I have a test date on hand. Thanks for ur help

It all depends on the person and how fast u learn, if u are working full time, etc....
But on average I would book the exam in 2 months. if u work hard, that should be enough time. but before booking the exam, take a practice test and study for a couple of weeks, see how you progress and then come to that conclusion. Or book ur exam in 2 monts already so that you have already set urself a goal and study accordingly.

I have to agree with Swizz. It really depends on the person and how confident you are. I just started my GMAT quest and took a look at Princeton and was overwhemed with information. It is stuff that I did in high school and college but I had forgotten most of it! I saw so many "traps" that I thought is not worth it to write the exam in June. So I changed my plan to write the test in early Sept...hoping these threads will help. John
