Hi,
I need to improve my reading comprehension. On any type of passage other than current affairs i usually get half of my answers wrong. I can get the theme of the passage but cannot get the tricky questions. Please give me some tips to improve my reading comprehension. If anybody is aware of good books or sites to improve Reading comprehension, please tell me. Regards Abhijit. |

First of all. Abhijit, this is probably the wrong place to post this query you should either post it under reading comprehension gor gre and GMat or general discussion for gre, gmat.
To answer your question, this is what i did,)am still doing) First to get attuned to reading, i took time to read the paragraphs well so i can understand thoroughly and get some practice in reading.I read every editorial in NYtimes, read every passage on the reading comprehension section of I still get about 1 wrong every 2 RCs but its still an improvement. Also go back and look at the paragraph after reading each question. |

Oh, I didn't mean to say that there is an reading comprehension section in NY Times, sorry if i conveyed the wrong meaning. What i meant is reading some editorial in NY Times, or for that matter any newspaper routinely will improve your reading skills.

Are you taking the GMAT or GRE? I have a GMAT verbal prep book from Princeton Review that is phenomenal for critical reasoning strategy...I would highly recommend it. If you're taking the GRE instead, I would imagine they have one for GRE verbal and that it's pretty good too, based on what I've read in the GMAT one. Use that book for figuring out critical reasoning and doing some practice questions, and then use the official guide for more practice.
