radhaganeshan..
the time is not carried forward to the next section so if u finish AWA 5 minutes ahead of time you can't apply that time in Quant Sec. you will still have 75 mins to complete Quant not 80 mins!! so if u do finish little early than u can either take that time to cool off or u can just go ahead click continue & proceed to the next section. the exam does n't allow u to go over the maximum amount of time and I believe that it does give a 5 min warning... please correct me if i m wrong.... thanks i forgot to mention that if you exceed the time allowed for one of the optional breaks during the gmat exam, the extra time will be deducted from the time available to complete the next section of exam material (the Quantitative or Verbal section). |

I have a question. I know that the time factor in GMAT is divided into 75 minutes per section. But, what i need to know is that, once a student finishes with any one of the tests before time, then does the remaining time get carried over to the next section?
NO IT DOESN'T, THAT'S WHY IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO MANAGE YOUR TIME WELL. Conversely, if one takes more time (the AWA), then does the computer indicate that the time limit has been exceeded or it reduces the time from the next section? NO, EACH SECTION IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS IN THAT SECTION. Somebody please reply. Thanks |

Hello radhaganeshan,
Break time is timed seperately. This is not a part of timing in the sections. Let me know if this answered the question below. Madhavi Quote:
