I would like to know if anyone out there has taken test no 55 (newly released paper test)? and if you have any data on the score/ability in this test verus CAT (PP)? I scored lower than I would have liked to and am wondering of there is any reason to considerit to be similar to CAT or PP test scores? There are 30% more question in the same time, all question get same weight, type of questions are not mixed but in each section, and no information about number of breaks you can take etc. . Or one should just take it as non timed practice test? May be my query applies to all paper based test of ETS?
Thanks

Sushil, let me first explain a bit about how GMAT develops PBT's and CAT's. When ETS implements a new format of the test, they give the new format to thousands of people who have taken the old format and compare the scores. ETS then adjusts the the new score to match the old scores.

So, on average, people should in theory get the same score on the PBT that they would get on the CAT. In practice, however, there are so many differences between the two formats, as you pointed out, that it's difficult to compare precisely. I would say, however, that the major difference between the two is one of time, and that if you're able to answer the questions with a bit more time, you're in good shape because you'll have more time on your CAT. I'm guessing that not many TestMagicians have taken these tests because they are so new, so it'll be hard to get some feedback about the correlation.

So, my advice for now--go through the test carefully, look at the questions you missed, and try to figure out whether you missed them because of a lack of knowledge or a lack of time. But the most important thing--don't stress too much! Keep a level head, and remain confident.
