I have a big dilema here. I am trying to cram a lot of practice into 2 months x 2 hours a day for the GMAT. But since I am just starting (about through the math section of the official guide), I'm not sure if I should try to:

    1. Rack my brain on every question, and try to get an answer, even if I have not idea how to do it. This causes lots of stress and I'm not sure if it helps at all.

    2. Just try and then go onto the answer if I can get the answer right off. This is much easier, but I seems like I learn less because I didn't try as hard.

Please any suggestions would help. I am leaning towards 1 for now since I just started.

Actually, 2 months of studying 2 hours a day is pretty typical. Don't look at it as cramming - you'll freak yourself out.

Also, don't rack your brain on analyzing the answers. The prep books out there explain what the questions are trying to get at (well, mostly for verbal), so you shouldn't have to work so hard to figure it all out. Also, the practice tests on the CD that comes with the PR book (Cracking the GMAT) include full explanations for each question's answers, right and wrong. I would suggest using that book to understand how the test is structured and what they're really looking for, and then paying close attention to the answer explanations. It will save you a lot of time and headaches! You will need to work on timing and racking your brain on every question will totally kill your timing.

    Good luck!
