Cannot complete all questions
I have been taking GMAT practice tests and for both Verbal and Quantitative sections I am not able to complete the tests on time. On an average I have about 7 questions left for both sections.
When there are only couple of minutes left, I just blindly select some answer and move on. My question is : Will this affect my score badly? I have heard that the scoring engine has pretty much determined the score after 30 questions and after that it just does minor tweaks to the score. Is this true? No matter how fast I try I am not able to finish the test on time. |

Hi rajkotia,
although it is bad that you cannot finish your sections on time, I can give you this advice: 1. You are better scored if you answer all your questions rahter than leave some unanswered. So, answer every question. Thus, you will have higher result than not doing it. 2. Don`t take your chances on blind guessing. Preview the question fast. Sometimes 1-2 answers will sound ridiculous and you can easily remove them. Then take your chance. The probability that you get it right is higher this way. 3. Try to do something about finishing faster. There are tips in this forum about increasing speed in reading comprehension and so on.. 4. And yes for the last questions you are not scored so much (first 6-10 questions are crutual) but try not to make more than 2 random guesses in a row in the entire test because this affects badly. ![]() |
