gmat prep score

Hi,
Can somebody please tell me how the scoring in gmat prep software works ?
I took the first practice test and got a 710 with M49 and V39. Is there a possibility of a software error that has increased my score by 50 odd points ?
How can a 90 percentile in Maths and 89 in Verbal translate to 94 percentile overall? And this after I chose 0.2 as the lesser of 0.2 and 0.04 in one of the questions.

ravindra_iit 's dreams are becoming reality.
There are people who can score well in maths only but not in verbal and vice versa. So combined percentile can be greater than your individual score percentile.

thanks surya. I know that I have a long way to go but silly mistakes have
proved to be my Achilles heel. Out of the 13 mistakes in Math 11 were of the variety that I mentioned in my last post and 2 were conceptual. I would have preferred all of them to be in the latter category. At least, that way I would have a definite plan to improve.
