Looking for Patient GMAT Tutor in Singapore to Instruct 36YO Oaf

Hi.

I just cracked open the OG book that everyone seems to swear by on TM. Fear suddenly overcomes me. I think, "maybe I should not be doing this on my own." I am not a spring chicken and I'm no engineer after all.

In fact, I have a liberal arts degree from a rinky dink university in the u.s. Somehow I put the idea in my head that I should take the GMAT.

I am absolutely committed. I plan to take the GMAT 90 days from today. I will take the diagnostic test on Saturday and go from there. I already know my weakest subject is math though, to be honest, i'm just pure flab all around at the moment. i'm going for a 650+ (pray)

Can you recommend a kind, gentle, patient and incredibly smart teacher?

Thanks in advance.

Zhaotis

try the GMAT Zone on raffles place, GMAT Zone - the leading Singapore GMAT course
they do one on ones and I did well with them (740) I was very good at maths already so we focused on verbal alone

I checked out the zone but I wasn't comfortable with them at all. I couldn't quite make out the accent of the instructor I met! I figured that if I can't understand him, there's no point in signing up. Eventually, I signed up with High Q HighQ Singapore. Ask for Yulia - she's the senior GMAT instructor. She's very patient and precise, making sure that I understood completely.

As an instructor at the GMAT Zone, I am disappointed in seeing this obvious attempt by Yulia (a.k.a. julesinsing doesn't even both to hide her name) from lying about the Zone

our instructors speak in crisp British / Irish / Educated Indian accents. And, Yulia / julesinsing, if you HAD attended the Zone you would not have had "an instructor" you would have had several, as we specialise in different subjects.

don't believe me, readers? read our testimonials, come to our free classes.

Paddylatino, I find your claim to be completely baseless, especially when you are from a competing school. I had, for a fact, attended one of your free sessions and spent over 2 hours talking with an Indian instructor. I wasn't very convinced and he advised me to check out other centers, which I did. Eventually I chose High Q. Yulia from High Q helped me achieve a score of 690 and I am simply sharing my personal experience here.

Anyway, to Mchao, please check out all the schools and good luck to you!

I've tried the gmat zone. My problem with them is not the accents, but the general lack of professionalism. They often have cases of trainer failing to turn up. They depending heavily on material from the gmac. They claim to have a lot of proprietary materials, but they don't.

hi there

I'm Micheal Collins, co-owner / founder of the GMAT Zone. I would like to address the point made above by "gmatwhiz" who claims that there are many cases of the trainer not turning up. This is completely impossible.

Please, contact us on 6333 4377 if you have had a situation where a trainer has failed to show up, and tell us. Even better, as I have named myself here, please name yourself too. We have competition in this market, and I would be interested to know who you are. I will check your name on our student records, and see who the trainers were for your batch.

And if you'd like to see our materials, then please study the 300 page Roadmap we give to each student FREE OF CHARGE made ENTIRELY of our own materials. As well as hundreds of online questions.

Even better, visit our FREE WEEKLY introduction classes where you get to meet the trainers and observe their training style.

Why not come along on the free intro nights, you will see DOZENS of students take our masterclasses, and you can ASK THEM what their experience has been like.

Finally, the GMAT Zone offers UNLIMITED tuition to all our students, and a guarantee that they can continue to work with us for as long as they like.

Dear Forum readers, I'm sorry to have to respond to this posting, but I am proud of our integrity, professionalism and attention to detail that has gained the respect of students from across the world.

Read our testimonials (all true, we can put you in touch with past students if you wish, they will be delighted to help).

Michael, I don't make statements without substantiating. I was a student at GMAT Zone a few months ago. I was promised unlimited tuition of course, as you always do. Then when I came back for additional help, you guys started complaining "Enough is enough, other students don't like having you around". Claiming you provide unlimited tuition is a comedy. Surely you don't expect to fulfil that promise, do you? It's just not possible.

Coming to the point of trainer not turning up, it has happened to me, and that too on a weekend after I wasted a trip there. Ok, so maybe it's not a frequent occurrence, but it's unheard of in other schools. Once is bad enough, don't you think?

Dear GMAT Whiz

Once again, please call us on 6333 4377 to let us know who you are. Our unlimited tuition promise means what it means.

There has been one single occasion in our records where a trainer did not show up, his girlfriend was involved in a car accident that very morning, and he rushed to the hospital to be with her, in his panic not calling us. It was really quite scary for him, it happened early this year. The class was rescheduled for attendees, and apologies tendered.

I note that you have softened your original statement about trainers "regularly" not showing up to a single occasion, which if it were this one, has an explanation.

"Ok, so maybe it's not a frequent occurrence, but it's unheard of in other schools. "
Thanks for conceding that it's not a regular occurrence . You had me going there... I mean we are in the office 7 days as week... And really I can't comment about other schools. I'm sure accidents and emergencies happen everywhere!

"Once is bad enough, don't you think?"

YES!! you're right!! Like I say call / email us, we're really quite keen to hear from you.

Now, if it the occasion you refer to was the emergency situation I refer to above, please note the reason behind it.

"you guys started complaining "Enough is enough, other students don't like having you around". "

Please call me on 6333 4377. I have no idea what you are referring to, it does sound very serious. Who are you? We need to find out, and deal with this. Clearly you are unhappy and we need to work this out.

"Claiming you provide unlimited tuition is a comedy. Surely you don't expect to fulfil that promise, do you? It's just not possible."

We DO provide unlimited tuition. All clients may continue to attend masterclasses for as long as they like, many re-attend course classes as well. Many have been attending our masterclasses for 3-4 months, one recently returned having spent several months abroad, and rejoined the programme. This is our unlimited tuition promise. Are you referring to this? We don't provide unlimited one-to-one tuition. THAT'S not possible

Please state your name or at least call us, so we can sort this out together. You surely have our email address. Please note : if there has been a mutual misunderstanding on our part, we can sort it out immediately. It is entirely possible that this has been the case. After all, I wouldn't be so keen for you to call me, if this were not so...

Anyway, I'm glad you responded to this series of posts, it shows that one way or another we'll get in touch and get to the bottom of this. I may have made a mistake somewhere, and I wish to rectify whatever it might be.

So, please contact us, really, it's the best way to work out what has happened.

Thank you all for your time in reading these posts
