query in sentence correction

In the usage:

can infinitive be only used with noun or adverb also?

e.g.:"x has contributed to significant changes in y" is correct because "to+noun" usage

but "x has contributed to significantly change y" is "to + adverb" usage..

is this correct????

Plz elucidate with examples :-)
