630V/680Q GRE Score: MA Economics still possible?
I know there are probably a lot of people in this same situation as myself, but I wanted to solicit some feedback. I did very poorly on my GRE this morning (630V/680Q). Needless to say, I've been a wreck all day. Being interested in pursuing an MA Economics, I know this undoubtedly takes me out the running for many of the schools I've had my eye on (LSE, BU, Duke, GMU, NYU).
Besides the GRE, other parts of my app are strong: 3.6 undergrad GPA in Economics with honors, undergrad thesis, 2+ years of work in research, strong personal statement, and three solid letter of reference (although only one is from an econ professor). I guess I'd like some feedback about some of the more reputable terminal masters programs I would be still be able to get into. UBC? GSE in Spain? Vanderbilt? Any good ideas anyone? My ultimate goal in to obtain an Economics PhD from a good university. I guess I'd also be interested to know whether it is worth the effort to retake the GRE. I've been under the impression that schools will average the two scores (?). If that's the case, I'd need to score near-perfect to make any substantial improvement in the way my app will be viewed. Thanks in advance... |
