McGill vs Stony Brook MS CS

Goals– MS -> 1 or 2 year job -> PhD

Interests– ML and PL/Compilers.

McGill:

Positives:

1. Overall reputation better.

2. Rank wise, CS dept is ranked better .(Though I am not sure about the credibility of rankings of QS or ARWU).

3. Reasoning and Learning Lab for ML.

4. I like the past projects in Sable Research group(PL group) but I am not able to find much about the present projects.

5. Tuition fee is lesser though difference is not high.

6. Better Chances of RA/TA after 1st year hence better research and funding chances.

Negatives:

1. Job opportunities + salary may be on lower side.

2. May need to learn French.

 

Stony Brook:

Positives:

1. Job opportunities + salary better.

2. DATA Lab and Applied Logic Lab

 

I feel I can get a good software developer job after masters from any of these. I want to compare the prospects in long term. What if I want to do PhD after 2 years in job?
