Hey agm,
To get into grad school does not solely depend on your GPA and GRE score(BTW,1400 is a wonderful score, Congratulations!). First off, you need to tell us what your major is and what you intend to take as your major field of your graduate study. As a student in social science, I know the strength of an application depends on five criteria as followed: 1)GPA; 2)Recommendation letter; 3)GRE; 4)Writing sample; 5)Personal statement; For me, the annual university ranking isn't that important. In so-called "Tier 2" universities, there are a lot of excellent professors/researchers from which you can really learn a lot and with whom you may be able to develop a truly meaningful relationship. By contrast, in so-called "Tier 1" universities, it's always difficult to catch and talk to those professors. They are busy, and some students don't even get a chance to have a deep conversation with them ![]() |

and do some research. I would like to know whether i get fiancial aid or scholarships to schools I intend to join.... My gpa 2.9 isnt that great..I wasnt very good student because I am not english speeker.. second, there were some family problems on and off.. these affected me emotionally...How do I choose the professors to write me recommendation letter.? Should choose instructors based on class performance and also How are they going to know me after long time?? Do i need to provide some background about myself to them in order for them to write a good letter. How many recommendation letters do colleges need ?? What is writing sample ??? I am writing a personal statement now.. Next what are the job opportunities if I graduate from with power electrical engineering. thanks in advance agm |

Hey agm,
You should go talk to your professors about recommendation letters. If they can't remember you, take the transcript and assignments with you... Those are fairly good reminders. You definitely need to give them some background information, like awards you've received and research you've done, to convince them of your scholastic aptitude. The number of letter varies from school to school. You should go check yourself. About that writing sample... in your case, you don't need it. It's for students in arts and humanities... Since I'm in social science, I don't know much about the job market of EE. Good Luck. arc. |
