What is the best way to support yourself and your family through graduate school?

Assume the school is in a small town without any corporations.

Someone had mentioned grading but the source of income is not steady because profs don't need graders every day but you do need money coming in every day.

Are there any other ways to survive?

Apply for scholarships.

Consider moving and going to a bigger school.

Try to find a teaching or a research assistantship even before accepting the offer from the uni

Try to earn by yourself, tutoring or assistantship.

Try selling stuff on ebay or working from home. Perhaps you have a skill you can apply to a home based business such as bookkeeping, translator, etc.
