    MS in computer science STANFORD, MIT ,HARVARD, BERKELEY, CALTECH

    Hi all, I am planning to apply top 5 universities MS computer science program. i am an international student in the university of southern california. My credentials are:

    GPA: 3.8/4.0
    Major Gpa: 3.78/4.0
    Paper: No
    Research experience: Yes, about computer graphics, one technical report was written and also a talk in a conference.
    Intern: Yes, in a not very known company in my country, database design...
    GRE: Not taken yet but expected: Quantative 800, verbal 400-300, analytic writing: 3-4.
    GRE computer science subject test: Not taken yet but expected 830-900.
    Recommendations: Not very known Professors, but good.

    Note: i got a W from my Algorithms course, but i re-took and got A- . ( i did not want to take B or below grade from it )
    Note2: My government is my sponsor. they will pay all costs for studying.

    i dont know what should i write and indicate in my statement of purpose.
    What do you think about my chance for MS program?

    Get that Verbal up!!! Try to get into top with a Verbal in 300s? That will hinder your chances even with a superb GPA as yours. Can you ask your gov-nt if they'd pay for my grad school too?

    MIT, CalTech - no chance,
    all others - only if you improve you score well on the subject test (and bring your verbal above 500).

    Why do people apply to CalTech's CS at all? This is probably the last specialty of the school.

    Just for the clarification, MIT and CalTech don't offer a terminal MS-CS degree.
