Professor Contact

Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me that actually when one should start contacting with professors if he/she wants to apply for fall 2010? At same time what things one should focus when mailing to professors?

Please let me know about this facts. I'm eagerly waiting for your reply...

the earlier you contact the better. One of my friends contacted the professors a year before his course was scheduled. Well thats a bit to early.Maybe if you are planning on fall 09(august) somewhere around january -february 09 is fine i guess....

introduce yourself and show interest in the research the professor is pursuing. Then he might ask your resume. Make it neat and specify all details about you which are related to the research he is pursuing. Hope you get it.

One thing will lead to another, you might just end up with an assistantship.
