Economics Masters programs (yet again...)
I apologize in advance, because I know there are about a million threads about MA econ options, but I have a few questions that don't seem to be answered in previous threads (from my searching, at least).
I just finished my undergrad in economic from McGill. I'd like to pursue a masters program either 1 or 2 years from now. I don't think I want to do a PhD, but I would like to do policy/govt work for a while. Given this, is it still important that I be shooting for the top Canadian masters programs - UBC/Toronto/Queens? I have looked into some other programs in Canada that seem interesting, but I am unsure as to whether they are well respected among employers. I really like the co-op program offered by UVic, and its focus on environmental economics. I've also been looking at Dalhousie and the McMaster policy stream. Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with these programs and could tell me a bit about them? I'm also looking into international programs - would love to apply to Stockholm School of Economics MSc program - but also do not know too much about it. It seems to be more about financial/industry jobs, from what I can decipher from the website. I'm guessing this program would be more suited to working in Europe afterwards, which is something that I would be interested in as well. Anyways, just wondering if there's anyone on these forums that knows about these programs. Would really appreciate any advice, thanks guys! |
