Hello all,
I have just taken my GRE test yesterday. I have got a good quant score and shitty verbal one to say the least. Q:760 V:340. (AW is still not known). Would you please evaluate my chances in Maters program in C.S given these factors: - GRE Q:760 - GRE V:340 - Undergraduate GPA: 3.65/4.0 (University of Jordan) - Major GPA: 3.80 - TOEFL: 105/120 - Good LORs - Published a paper in WSEAS international conference - 1 year work experience at a known publishing firm (but my job was relevant to C.S). - Some awards received from local competitions in Jordan. - Hopefully a very good statement of purpose where I have shown strong enthusiasm for research. - Native language is not English and undergraduate degree from a non-English speaking country. I have applied for Spring 2010 programs to the following schools: - Columbia University - Cornell University - University of Delaware (hopefully a safe last-resort school?) I also will apply to (deadline in about a month) - NYU Spring 2010 - Princeton Fall 2010 - Stanford (extremely long shot, but I have to try ) Do you think I have a chance at any of these schools, would you advice me to retake the GRE before applying to NYU (deadline in 4 weeks) given that I'm almost 100% positive that there won't be any significant, if any, improvement to my GRE V score. Last question and sorry for the long read , I'm still undecided between Columbia and NYU as my top choice (I know its too early to talk about that before admission results). But if its appropriate to ask here, is Columbia that much better and recognized for its C.S program than NYU . I have visited NYU's campus and kinda liked it more than Columbia's, but would you go to NYU instead of Columbia if you had the choice? |
