Please evaluate my profile
Hi everyone! If at all possible, it would be great if you guys can give me a honest evaluation of my chances for admission into a PhD psychology program. My test scores are not very good, but I have 3 years worth of experience and excellent letters of recommendations from three professors. Also, I feel like my statement of purpose is pretty strong. So for all extent and purposes, please evaluate away!
1. I took the GRE last year and received a 1210 (V: 540, Q: 670) ![]() I know that the score isn't very good, but due to personal reason, I cannot retake the test anytime soon. It'll have to do for now. 2. My cumulative GPA from UC Davis is 3.5. My psychology GPA is roughly 3.64. I know that it's not very high, but I messed up pretty badly freshman year and had to bring it up significantly in three years (I graduated early). 3. I have 2 years of research experience in a neuroscience lab where I studied the nature of human associative memory. At the lab, I ran behavioral experiments, collected data, analyzed data, and managed appointments. I was also acknowledged in Neuron Magazine for data collection and analysis. 4. I have 1 year of experience in a social psychology lab where I researched how our decision making behaviors can shift in response to social influence. 5. I'm currently a lab manager at a lab in Davis and am in charge of designing and managing data collection for online studies, writing and managing IRB applications, training and overseeing undergraduate research assistants, facilitating in graduate research projects, managing databases, and contributing to the preparation and completion of research grants. I am applying to many of the UCs as well as some professional schools such as Alliant University, Fielding Graduate School, and Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (PGSP). Depending on the school, I am either applying for the clinical or social psychology program. What are my chances of admission? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
