lse social science masters - are they worth it?

hi,

im a student from new delhi, india, and am in my last year of a bachelors degree in sociology. i am applying to some of the msc programmes in lse - social policy and development and the msc in human rights. i have a bunch of questions though, and havent found answers to them just yet. please please PLEASE help.

1. are these masters courses a sham?? they seem to be pretty easy to make it to, and there is no gre/gmat requirement. and they are mostly only 1 year long.

2. are these courses attractive to prospective employers - in the ngo sector and among international agencies?

3. would it make sense for me to take a loan and do one of these courses? is there a half decent chance that the degree will make me employable after, so i can swiftly repay the loan?

thank you!!?

Hi Arathoo,

I have a similar question, but before I start I would like to ask you how to apply to two separate programs only to study one after it is determined if you are admitted into LSE or not. Is it necessary to complete a separate application for each of the programmes?

Would you need two different copies of the reference letters (addressed to the different programmes) from each professor you ask or will the university accept one letter for both of the programmes.

In other words, if I apply for programme A and programme B, would I be able to use the same reference letter for both A and B, although addressed to only one of the programmes?

Apart from that I am also concerned with whether the programme will assist me in pursuing a career in NGOs or international agencies. Have you received any information on this yet?
