Preferred or prospect candidate

Recently I received some emails from business schools saying that I have been identified as preferred or prospect applicant for their program.

I wonder if they are really serious or this is kind of marketing email that we often receive from the marketing department of a manufacturer.

Are you or have you been in the same situation? Could you tell me how to understand these emails correctly? Desperately looking for your ideas.

They were probably automatically sent after you took the GMAT. I have been receiving the same ones constantly since I took, and they are just marketing e-mails. They are from the school so the information may be useful, but don't take it as you could definitely get in to the school.

Thank you. I doubted when I received the second similar email from another school. They are doing something weird. This kind of marketing email can either help them or kill their prestige.
