I am. Waiting another month is going to be tough...

    Profile:

    GPA: 83.5/100
    UG: Mech Eng, UBC
    GRE: 800Q, 680V, 4.5AWA
Job/Internship: two 8-month engineering internships; one in environmental/process optimization in the o&g industry, the other not all that relevant.

You at UBC? I don't know of many other schools with a percentage-based GPA.

Yeah I graduated from UBC in MECA in 2009. Did you just graduate?

Also, what concentration did you apply to?

Me too. I really like the flexibility that the program offers.

Who did you use for letter of recommendation? I wonder if we any common recommenders.

    hey guys,

seems like a pretty canadian thread here's my stuff:

    GPA: 3.8/4.0
    UG: Dalhousie University, Electrical Engineering
    GRE: 790Q, 660V, 5.0A

Experience: couple NSERC summer research terms, co-op work terms with ExxonMobil in Halifax and Calgary. Currently at ExxonMobils (Imperial Oil) research and development division in Calgary.
You guys apply to MIT TPP by any chance?

Also, the Results page on thegradcafe.com shows that people are hearing back from Stanford MS&E Masters today....stanford management science • thegradcafe.com

That said, I emailed Juanita today as well and she said that decisions would be finalized mid March. Though last year it looks like all masters decisions emails were sent out in 1 or 2 days, so I think we might all hear back this week.

    Good luck!

    Hey Maverick,

Looks like you're right, results are streaming in.

I'm in Calgary as well working at Talisman Energy. I'm assuming you applied to the Energy and Environment track? Best of luck!

    I only applied to Stanford.

    admission & choice

    Hi,

I am graduating in maths and engineering at Masters level, at univ. with local brand name and I am now admitted for Stanford MS&E. I find the course perfect, there is the Stanford brandname, it sounds like I have the opportunity to do some joint program in statistics or core engineering or Public policy. But I am not clear about what the return on investment of this year spent at Stanford could be.

What are your thoughts/experience related to MS&E: where are people working after graduation, what are salaries and difficulties to find a job? Is there any way to make the program clearly finance oriented and to go to jobs in IBanking? How would you compare it to a program in BA (MBA or PBA) in terms of future, courses, job hunting...? What is class profile for MS&E: people already working in engineering sector and willing to add a management colour ? Am I totally wrong if my wish is rather to go to risk, regulation, financial/economics matters, in a bank, a company, a rating agency?

If I decline offer and go look for a position, I will probably work as a developper. I have background in financial eng. so I could work in financial sector but I am really not interested in being an IT quant. MS&E, I guess, opens doors to consultancy jobs.

I could alternatively go to LSE in Finance and Econ program, St Gallen Switz. in Banking and Finance program. Or wait one year more and apply for more finance/econ/regulation/quant. finance oriented program - or for MBA/PBA.

In short, I am not satisfied with my eng. profile and don't want to work as a developer now, I am unsure of what job I want to compete for exactly but I do have an interest in markets and economics. MS&E sounds good but I have had little feedback on the course.

I hope somebody can have some advice to make decision easier.

    Regards.
