Plz Evaluate My chances

Well guys.. im making up my mind now.. have decided to talk to a prof n ask him abt what kinda papers i can try n give.. il mostly giv it in OR.. thats the plan right now

well guys i was talking to a guy whos going to go to purdue for MS in IE Without aid.... he was saying that i could try n get into purdue since i had a good profile.. his point was that i had a good profile n that since i have better score than him in GRE (i think he had some 1350) i cud also get it though i didnt make any paper preps.. i think y intern in TATA will help me.. also i was told it is much easier to get into IE top univs than others...

So what do u suggest? do u think i have a chance in Purdue etc?? i feel in IE may b TAMU is kinda a lil safe bet!!!

Hey aks, how many univs are u thinking of apping to... I would say you stand a chance in Purdue (bond bhai ka influence bhi hoga hee hee ) but you should apply to others too...

nice one attraxion hmmm but i hope i have realistic chances of making it !!
havent quite thought about no. of schools but mostly 6 or 7.. right now these are the things on my mine'

Purdue (IE) ms or phd (Ambitious one... No doubt lol)
Johns Hopkins (mech) (Ambitious ofcourse)
U Cal Santa Barbara (Mech) (Ambitious Again)
Arizona State Univ (Mech) (Supposedly a safe bet.. i might even get funding easily)
Texas A & M (IE) Moderate one..
Michigan State Univ (Mech) Moderate one
Virginia Tech (Mech) Slightly Ambitious
Univ of Pennsylvania or Cincinatti (Im hoping one of these will be my safe bet

Hopefully Upenn or Cincinatti might get me funding along with an admit in a prog of my choice!!!

Well whats ur opinion on the list... im still working on it.. n i hope il put up my final one sometime soon

hey U Penn is IVY League member,so it's not a safe bet at all.
although it's Engr. is ranked around top 30.but it has one of the lowest acceptance rates(that's why it's IVY League member)

By and large, your list is okay, aks... I think MSU and TAMU would be okay (a little towards safe) for your profile... these guys are right about Upenn, of course... you could also try rutgers, good school...

Overall, keep around 3 ambi, 3 okay and 2 safe univs in your list...
