yes, I've started shopping for US.

well thinking of Phd right now mechqwert.. but i have to check out if il make it to the ones im thinking of

its pretty difficult to get into Phd in good univs i guess.. though i might get in MS i most humbly and respectfully would prefer to have aid also.. n i hav an interest in research in IE

Yes, that is one question that comes to my mind too... is it better to do a PhD from a relatively lower school (say, rank 40) than an MS from a better one (say, rank 20)... given that one is initially interested in PhD?

good piece of advise .

i have heard this from my seniors also . while ranking does matter, it matters more in case of ms.
the chances of getting aid are aslo very good for phd.

well attraxion its a tricky one.. but this is what i feel

suppose u really wanna do a Phd. if u dont get funding n its not easy for u to arrange finanaces, anyday its better to make it clear to the big school prof abt thy interest in research work. but still if the big school guys reject u..get into an MS at a reputed program..

after thy MS try for Phd.. n this time with thy work frm MS as a back up u will make it to still better schools.. a snr of mine did the same n got into Gatech for phd
