Hi all,
I need to know about chances of getting admission in top universities in USA for pursuing Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. My educational background is B.E. (Mechanical Engg.) from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, CGPA = 3.72 in the scale of 4.00 M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, CGPA = 9.00 in the scale of 10.00 Presently working (in NTPC, India) Work experience in field of design, engineering, quality assurance and inspection of mechanical components of steam turbines, steam generator, piping, valves, pumps etc of 200/500 MW power plant. GRE score Verbal - 460, Quantitative - 790, (appeared on 16.04.2003) Yet to appear in TOEFL. |

on merit of your acads & well rounded work experience you could try good schools. Go ahead & apply to top schools. Make sure you have killer references & SOP. Publications, Patents etc will help.
Don't be disheartened by 490 in Verbal. My personal suggestion is 4(top)+3(top-)+1(medium). hth. |
